Are ceiling speakers any good

I was thinking of getting a 5.1 setup of 4 ceiling speakers, 1 in wall centre speaker and a subwoofer. Could you tell me if ceiling speakers are any good or would I be compromising on sound quality if so would I be better going for a speaker package or if not what ceiling speakers would you recommend and where would be the best place to position them in a room that is 3.7 metres x 2.9 meters and what in wall centre speaker would you recommend.

No problem with celing speakers for the rears, but think ceiling front left/rights would lack directivity and give a confused sonic picture. You could always go in-wall for all three fronts if you have enough wall-space...
