I have just recently purchased 5 arcam muso satellites and the logo subwoofer. Auditioned them at Audio T in Chandlers Ford. Great speakers and, to my mind, sounded far better with music than the B&W M10 satellites, MA R90s? and KEF 5005.2 alternatives. Anyway, I rec'd delivery of the speakers and wall brackets on friday. I excitely began to unpack the speakers and wall brackets. I hadn't seen the wall brackets when deciding on the speakers. I had just assumed that they would be fit for purpose....especially given Arcam's reputation for build quality. Oh dear, I could see that they wouldn't be up to the job just from looking at them. Funny little things, made of lightweight material with a Arcam sticker stuck on as an after thought. Nonetheless, I persevered and attempted to mount a speaker on the wall. It became clear that Arcam didn't have much confidence in the brackets either....I found an additional instruction on a bit of paper which requested that the installer bung in a spring clip in the ball and socket to try and lock things in place when tightening it up. This I did. Things didn't go well from the off. The plate I attached to the wall had to be loosened to allow the bracket to slide over it (thereby attaching it to the wall). Then it didn't want to go over the screws (supplied in the kit). A bit of force and I managed to get things in place. However, no matter how hard I tightened the ball and socket, the speaker would always droop. Moreover, the brackets (not cheap) would not permit me to mount the centre speaker in a horizontal position, even if the drooping had not been an issue. Severely hacked off, I rang Audio T and complained bitterly. They agreed to contact Arcam for me to see what they had to say. I'll find out their response on tuesday. In the meantime, I had a bit of a look round online....I can't find pictures/literature regarding the Arcam wall brackets anywhere. However, I chanced upon these.....these. These are the exact same brackets (minus the sticker)...going for considerably less than I paid for them. I have to say, I am rather annoyed. If I had known the wall brackets supplied for the muso's were so poorly made/conceived I would have gone for something else. I had assumed that the brackets would be designed/engineered by Arcam. They are not. If Arcam are unable to resolve the situation to my satisfaction, I will be demanding my money back on the whole lot. I'll update this post when I find out what they intend to do.
