Arcam Alpha 8

I have just dug my old Arcam Alpha 8 and Alpha 7 Cd player out of the loft but I get sound through the headphones and speakers at the same time? I always thought when I plugged my headphones in it would cut the speakers off.

What am I doing wrong? I've lost touch with HiFI stuff, I'm only just getting back into it as I've moved into a bigger place and I have a room for music now. I know it must be something simple but I cant remember, I bought all my stuff about 10 years ago.

On my Alpha 9 amp you have to de-select the speakers (SP1 or SP2) using the push-button at the front if you only want headphone sound...

That was it, Iÿconnectedÿthe speakers to SP2 and then the push button turns off the speakers, it must be something to with connecting the speakers to SP1, they wont deselect. its all OK now, Thanks
