I'm toying with the idea of replacing my elderly Audiolab with an Arcam A80, mainly because, being a lazy git, I would like a remote. Any horror stories, alternative suggestions or enthusiasm welcome.
I had one for about 5 years, loved it but then I am one of those people who 'like the Arcam sound'. I listened extensively to other manufacturer's price comparable kit (and also Cyrus 8 & Arcam A85) before I bought it .
Don't take my word (or anyone else's) you should audition the amp for yourself and if like what you hear go ahead buy.

Exactly right. I had one for a year or so and bought it over the Rotel RA-06 and Arcam A70. I really liked the detail, warmth and features of the amp but at the end of the day found it a little too relaxed. If you like the Arcam sound then i would highly recommend it. Built superbly well also so should not have any worries buying a used one. You can get them new with full warranty for about £300 now so may be worth a look.
