I can get both used for about the same price and will be pairing them with B&W DM601 S3 speakers.

Does anyone know which is best?

Thanks

Although I've not heard the Arcam A75+, I have been told it is very similar to the A65 Plus, with some some of the edges rounded off. So it is extra smooth.

I'm a Arcam fan but I would plump for the Nad. It has more punch - a more grown-up sound.

It's fairly pointless giving advice based on what you've been told, since the person who told you might well being going on what he's been told, and so on...

Although I've only heard both, I'd go for the NAD, which I feel has a peppier presentation without sacrificing any low-down weight or definition.

Thanks for the replies. So at the moment its:

NAD C320BEE - 2
Arcam A75+ - 0

Have to say, a little surprised as the Arcam was initially more expensive when it came out and generally thought the Arcams we're more refined.

I believe the A75 was a bit of a duffo. I could be mistaken, but I don't think WHFI ever did a review on it - that tells it's own story, eh?

When I auditioned my A65+ I compared it with Nad 352 (improved version) and the Rotel RA-02 and although both the Nad and Rotel had deeper bass and a tad more detail, Arcam, imo, had a improved sonic balance.

NAD C320BEE all the way for me as well.

Im a huge Arcam fan and a massive NAD fan as well but with those 2 amps; theres only one winner.

The NAD is punchier; better all round soundstage and kicks well above its price tag

plastic penguin:Maybe I should of explained better. But I was given this info by one of WHFI's top 20 retailers, not just hear say 'Harry Bloggs' down the road, when I asked about the comaparison between the A65 - A75.

I wasn't aware we had a 'top 20 retailers', or indeed any kind of retailer rating system.

It would be the NAD C320BEE for me - this is a nice little amp. Had this paired with the NAD C521BEE and it produced a fluid, cohesive sound with a solid bass.

The Arcam is just way too laidback for my taste.

Andrew, please. Just turn up page153 of WHFI? Sound & Vision Feb 2009 edition, your company lists, around the country, by region the best hi-fi specialists. Did I mention a rating system?

Penguin, please - it's an advertising feature. And yes, your use of the term top 20 and the context did suggest that we in some way put those retailers above others, a point you have now reinforced by suggesting that 'your company lists...the best hi-fi specialists'. There is no editorial involvement whatsoever in those pages. and no editorial qualitative judgement applied to which retailers appear there.

I am trying to sell my 320BEE and bump into this post doing research for my description. Because I have 320BEE for some years and bought a used A65+ last year, I listen to both thru my B&W 303 for sometime. My conclusion is contradict with all above. For classical music (I never played R&R, Hip Hop on it), the Arcam is clearly one league above the NAD in term of musical reproduction. 320BEE is a very good amp at the price and produce much louder bass but the quality of each individual note is not at the level of the Arcam. After 20 minutes of listen, the Arcam draws you in more while the NAD pushes you away in a gentle way.

That's way I bought another Arcam, a P90 Power amp, into my chain and it bring the enjoyment to another level. Maybe the B&W 303 is not a good much for the NAD? But to me, I will choose A75+ with no grate for my taste of music.

Thanks,

I've been a very happy owner of an arcam a75 for 15+ years. I don't agree that's its a bit of a duffo. Not heard the nad so I wouldn't like to comment on which is best. The arcam is smooth and sounds good at low to medium volumes but does fall apart when played loudly.

This is all very interesting but after 4 years the OP has probably made his mind up.

i have owned a NAD 320BEE and an Arcam A70 - so will qualify my view in that it isnt an A75 but should be comparatively close.

the Arcam is better in terms of clarity and detail, and is i feel more musical but the NAD will give you more bass punch to the presentation. I preferred the Arcam but liked them both above many other brands.

i upgraded through the Arcam line and my brother now has the Arcam A70 and paired with some Monitor Audio Bronze standmounts sounds excellent. However i prefer standmounts myself and liked a bit more power from the Arcam FMJ range

i note this is an old post but may help someone who is looking at options
