Apple TV

Hello to all,

I`m in the process of buying an apple TV 160gig for Euro290. Will be using it`s digital out to play lossless audio streamed from pc or saced on apple`s hard drive.

Does anything similary price beats it when it comes to Audio?

apple TV is not 24 bit / 192, logitech squeeze box is and does almost all formats

What is keeping me away from buying the logitech is streaming VS playing from a hard disk. Does streaming degrade the sound in anyway Vs playing direct from a harddisk?

quality is same. ethernet cable guarantees you wont get drop out as you may with wifi.

Unfortunately, I dont have access to ethernet connection where my hifi gear is located.

wifi should be ok, but have heard apple products are not great for wifi.

Use powerline network adapters to run a network over your existing mains electricity wiring. Sounds exotic but it works a treat. Connect your applicance to a powerline adapter via an ethernet cable and simply plug into a power outlet - do the same at the other end against your router/switch. There are many vendors (all the usual ones) - do a little googling on HomePlug AV.

I've been using the Devolo dLAN for a while and it works great.
