Apple Lossless Codec 1/2 Size, therefor 1/2 Quality?

My title pretty much is my question, if apple lossless codec 1/2's the size of the file isn't it losing some of the sound quality? I just want to know because im thinking of redigitising my CD collection, but only want to do it if the technology has pretty much peaked/offer equal quality

No, lossless means lossless - an exact copy can be reproduced from an apple lossless (or WMA lossless or FLAC) file.

thanks, from what i read elsewhere you can simply convert a lossless file to another lossless format without a drop in quality? I've already started the process of re-digitising my music, better takes a few days off, lol.
