Hi guys - quick questions. I have a new pair of GS60s. After 20 hours of "running in", I sat down to listen to them and the music was all over the place. The bass sounded detached from the rest of the music. Bass was sometimes thunderous but when it should of been fast, tight and punchy, instead it was fast but lacking in serious dBs!!. Been placed back out of phase next to each other for more running in.

But my questions is how long these speakers take to run in???

I have previously owned the GS60s and know what they should hopefully sound like 🙂

I would not pass serious judgement on the sound if the speakers are new until you have given them a good 150-200 hours running in, then sit back do the same test, try lost of genres, movies, music etc, then you should find they are more coherent, bass punchier, mids and highs more functional, and also your ears will grow used to there sound.

I agree with Scott's comments.

I reckon that the GS60's will need about 100 or so hours of running-in, to start performing optimally.

Dan.

Out of interest what other equipment are you using with them?

complete miss match of kit: Musical Fidelity KW Pre/KW750 Power/KW SACD. All with very high end cables and mains conditioning.

obviously the speakers are not in the same category. One helpful thing for me is the systems ability to produce deep controlled bass counteracts slightly the brightness of the speaker. However as I am just about to get married the speakers to go with the system are on a back burner for a little while.B&W 800D!!! 😛

I have a post in the Show Your System section, which shall be updated this week as I have a lot of new additions on my rack now.

Thx Scott and Dan. Ill keep going then
