Any idea where I can buy an iriver clix2? +recommend me an alternative?

I've been searching all day, and the only sellers I can find are on ebay (used or faulty).

The official iriver store is only selling the 2gb version, I'm after the 8gb, new, in grey if possible.

Is there a known reason behind the lack of product available?

While we're here, any recommendations for non-apple mp3 players would be appreciated. I've nothing against apple, I just want to try something different.

Try AdvancedMP3players. They should be able to help you. They (used to) do a lot of iriver, Cowon, Creative, Samsung, as well as Apple products.

Judging by the lack of replies for recommendations for alternative DAPs to iPods, I'd say that most people use iPods. This means it's going to be difficult to get an objective answer, I'm affraid.

Several players seem to be significantly better than iPod for sound quality and a fair few are more flexible with regards to connectivity and file transfer, but cross comparing all the functions and pros and cons is quite a task.
