My current set-up is:

Amp: Audio Analogue Puccini SE

CD: Musical Fidelity A3.2

Speakers: Triangle Zerius

Cables/Interconnects etc: all good quality i.e. not a weak link

I've been running this system for quite a few years now and think it's time for a bit of an upgrade. I think the amp is the current weak link (i think it's a bit short on power). This is especially noticeable with low frequencies. I've been extremely impressed with my MF CD player and believe MF products generally represent excellent value for money. I was on the verge of buying a KW500 (overkill I know, but at £900 it was a no-brainer) but the sale fell through.

I think a more sensible option would be the A5; plenty of power and readily available for under £700 (now that A5.5 is out).

What do people think? I haven't upgraded for a while so am a little out of touch with current products...

We haven't reviewed the A5, but suspect it could well be what you are looking for. It is certainly worth a listen. Other options would be Naim's Nait 5i (italic) and Exposure 3010s. Both would give you a punchier, more exciting sound than the Puccini SE.
