Hi,

I want to buy a hi-fi system, and my choices are:

Amp: Technics SU-A700, Technics SU-VX500, Marantz PM6010OSE, or Denon 925R

Speakers: Wharfedale Crystal 2 CR2-40 or JBL E80.

I mostly listen to rock and blues, sometimes metal.

What setup would you choose ? Thanx

Welcome to the forum...

Marantz and Wharfedale Diamond 10.4. Heard the 9.4 and they are good so the 10s should be at least as good, and probably better than the Crystals.

I love Wharfedale products but they mass produced speakers throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, some of which were built for partying rather than hi-fi accuracy.

To fully appreciate the Marantz or the other makes mentioned the Diamonds should give you a more balanced presentation.

Any particular reason you're limiting yourself to these choices of equipment?

There's a lot of good kit out there.

the budget is somewhere between 500 and 600 EUR for amp and speakers; i already have, turntable and a CD player is not worth it, because i have most of the music on an external HDD, in lossless format;

so i have this equiment in mind, because it's what i found so far near my location (i like to see what i buy).

if you have other opinions or recommendations, please share :)

Thanx a lot
