Amp for Tannoy EFX 5.1

I currently have an old Yamaha 5.1 amp, must be over 6 years old lol

I've got Tannoy EFX 5.1 speakers and just bought a Panasonic TX-P42ST31B. I use a WDTV Live Plus.

I'm looking for a new amp that will work well with the Tannoys EFX 5.1. I know the EFX's have an extended high frequency range, so with that in mind I'm thinking I don't want an amp that is too bright? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I do have a warm feeling to Yamaha amps and been told it has good all round ability, with Onkyo have a more in your face sound. Never experienced Sony surround amps.

I do listen to music also so need something slightly refined but not too laid back that movies aren't too good. Thats why I'm thinking Yamaha.

Also require HD audio formats

Price I'm looking for as cheap as really. I'm hoping to get something 2nd hand.

On another Av forum site they have a classified section of av amps, I know they have just what you're looking for in terms of quality, affordability and value. Denon or Yamaha or Onkyo.

I was looking at something like Sony DH820 or Yamaha V671 etc.

i personaly would snap up a Yamaha to go with you're Tannoy,s.

671 around £175 🙂

Is there anything better than the Yammy 671 for around the same price?
