Hey

I hear a lot of people talking about Roksan this and Cyrus that, and Z7/Z11 for top end amp.

Is there one amp that is amazing for a nice musical sound LIke the two channel, but still have the features of HD audio and HDMI?

And something that doesnt cost 5000.00

Or am I just talking garbage

Cyrus made an AV amp called the AVMaster 8.0 (I have one) and it sounds great for stereo (using stereo direct option) but it needs a stereo power amp to give 5 channels of power (it has 3 channels built in). It has limited number of inputs and does not handle video at all (this is not a problem as my TV has plenty of connections). New cost was 800 quid plus a Cyrus power amp would make it nearly double that and s/h prices are holding up well.

The biggest limitation is that it does not handle newer HD audio formats (this probably killed it off) but if that does not bother you it sounds good for both hi-fi and AV use. There is plenty of possiblity to improve it by adding dedicated stereo pre-amp or power amps.

Audiolab processors/power amp are also meant to be very good but your blu-ray player will need to do the decoding of HD audio formats. Many stereo amplifiers have an AV by-pass function that will enable you have a dedicated stereo amp that also powers front speakers in AV system but it does mean an extra box!
