I have just notice that the new Alienware aurora R4 has not got a connection for FireWire. What if one needs to do video editing

I am gettin mine in the post on Monday but not sure if I should return it within the 7day period. Dnt know if it's possible to use a card reader for FireWire .

Any suggestion welcome

Thanx.

FireWire is not far off dead, very few record to DV these days. If you need to however, you can buy and fit a FireWire PCIe card for about £20.

Do you have any spare drive bays on the front?

Oh thank Paul hobbs, look like a nice solution, but I have decided 2 get a custom built computer 4 music. So this one will be going back to dell. If u guess how much it cost. 3 & half grand yet no spare pci slots & no FireWire. I think that is sinful. Alienware product. I had a laptop Alienware and it had more ways to upgrade. FireWire and the whole lot.

I just assumed that a computer of that price level must have expansion slots but I was very wrong. Am still within the 7 day return period so am fine. I just sorry 4 some people who may not notice then few months or year down the line find out it's not upgradeable. Hum.. That would be stressful.

Build your own pc.... I have built around ten so far mostly for friends and family.

This one I am on at present cost around the £600.00 mark but if it were an Alienware product it would have cost a whole lot more... don't pay for a 'name', not these days.

You still want to be buying good parts, especially for gaming purposes though.

Read about building your own computer online.... I kid you not when I say it is as easy as one, two three..... it's like colouring in.
