Just wondering how the analogue output compares to the optical. On a scale of 1 to 10 with the optical on 10, where would the analogue fit in.

6. On the face of it the analogue output sounds pretty good, but plug a pair of headphones into it and hear the noise.........

Analogue output is okay.

Digital output is as good as the DAC you plug it into. It has been measured to be Bit Perfect, so is a perfectly good alternative to the bets CD transports.
