My system at moment is Wharfedale 505.2 speakers with Arcam Alpha2 amplifier plus Denon CD player DCD-820. The whole system is approx 18 years old and sounds great.

The CD player is now defunct, is it best just to replace CD player with maybe with Arcam Diva CD73T, or replace whole system because of age.

As you can probably tell from this post I am no expert, but would seek advice from more well informed folk.

Regards Peter

What's your budget?
If you have a healthy budget I'd say overhaul the complete system as 18 years is an excellent innings and it's best to sell whilst still working.

If you think the sound is great, just change the cd player. Your system will sound even better then. Why spend money when your ears are quite happy?

I actually am using the arcam alpha 2 as well and have it driving a pair of wharfdale diamond 8.1s and it actually sounds pretty good.
