Hi, im new to surround sound and have the new sony dav-f200 2.1 system. Wandering how to get the sound from standard tv through it. If i connect it by the hd cable i only get it when i put in a dvd. I can also connect it to the xbox and get sound. But is there a way to connect just to the tv with 1 cable and then get sound form sd, dvd and xbox? And is this the best way. Im not very good with sound and cables. Any help would be appreciated.

What tv are you connecting to and what cable are you using for your xbox?

i have a 42" LG plasma but am getting the 46" sony W4500 in a couple weeks. I connect my xbox to my tv through HD cable.

By HD cable do you mean HDMI cable? If so, your xbox presumably has the digital optical audio output?

yeah thats right. if i plug the surround system into that it works off the xbox. But i want the sound from the TV when i watch normal tv.

HDMI cable from DAV-F200 to tv

HDMI cable from xbox to tv

Optical cable from tv audio out to DAV-F200 (Digital In Optical TV)

Optical cable from xbox audio out to DAV-F200 (Digital In Optical Sat/Cable)

This is for when you get the SONY. If your current tv does not have an optical audio out, connect a regular audio cable from its audio out to the DAV-F200 (Audio In TV)
