Active Speakers

From the recent whathifi review, AVI's active ADM9 speakers sound just what I'm after to play apple lossless tracks from a mac. In terms of inputs which is better - USB or TOSLINK? Does anyone have any info or opinion on whether there is any difference given the reasonable length of USB or TOS/optical cable needed for good separation? I guess in theory, they should be the same but there are always unforseen subtelties with these things that only appear on listening!

I have to say I have consistently found electrical digital connections to sound better than optical, at least at a consumer level (that last bit there to head off all the 'but they use fibre optic cables for undersea phone lines' stuff). But I haven't done any direct USB/Toslink comparisons - anyone else got any better idea?

Never try myself but I can't see why one would have big advantage over the other! Buy both and listen, find out and let us know.
