I watched Die Hard 4.0 last night on blu-ray which comes with a DTS HD-MA 5.1 soundtrack. If I let my player decode the sound I found that my receiver was showing an input of 7.1 channels of sound? If I let the receiver decode the sound it was receiving 5.1.
Also, I could only play around with the receiver's digital sound processing if the sound is sent as PCM (decoded in the player)
If I send it as bitstream (so the receiver decodes the sound) I can't use any of the DSP!
Are my finding right, if so could I have an explaination please.
