80s TT

Hi all,

Can anybody give me their opinion on an old Sony tt from the 80s, model PS-LX2? I inherited it years ago, hardly used it for years but just wondering if anyone had ever had one, what they thought etc.

I can't give you any help about how it sounds but my dad had one in the 80's.

As a kid I broke it with a magnet. I put a heavy powerful magnet on the platter to make it spin. What I didn't know at the time was that the TT platter underside is coated with a magnetic coating and there is what looks just like a tape recorder head under the platter. The coating and 'tape head' keep the rpm correct.

If you put a massive magnet on the platter and make it spin it causes the speed to fluctuate quite a bit!
