i have a pair of 805s and thinking of going with

1) rotel 1550 + 1552 (120watts)

2) rotel 1580 + 1582 (200watts)

3) rotel 1550 + 1582 (200watts)

4) acram a38 (105 watts)

I will eventually get an arcam rdac and a cd player. just waiting for the wireless version of the rdac to arrive in my country.:)

what do you think? it does seems very important to have more power for the amp.:)

I listen to mainly vocals and do not enjoy loud volume music listening.

Other brands recommendations are welcomed:) merry christmas!

Hi timelessinoaxaca

The Rotels will work well with the 805s speakers however if you can stretch your budget then i'll suggest you also consider ATC's SIA2-150 MK2 or CA2/P1. The ATC amplification will offer greater grip over the 805s speakers with lower distortion, higher resolution, weight, depth and overall will sound far more musical.

As a superior source Chord Electronics Chordette Peach DAC is also worth considering in addition to the rDac.

All the best

If you can have a listen also to the Audiolab, I am in the same position at the moment looking to go from an AV setup to add Pure Stereo to power my 805s, the Audiolab is at the top of my list following a demo.

The 8200CDQ is a CD Player, DAC and Pre amp all in one, they you can add either a Stereo Power or Mono-Blocks depending on your budget. I am looking in to the 8200CDQ and an 8200P or possibly 2x 8200M, waiting to get a home demo.
