5.1 surround system - best for music ?

Hi All,

Could anyone recommend some surround speakers that are also ok with music (I know, not ideal)

Currently have some big Spendor floor standers + Creek amp, sounds great but the missus is giving me a hard time...

considering Sony HTSS1100 as an easy all in one, tho would consider Kef's plus seperate amp ? Do I have to spend a few quid to get decent music from 5.1 ?

Hi Gareth,

Yes, it's not ideal - but fear not, you can get decent music performance from surround speakers (though not so much from the 'style' variety. And I doubt v.much to match your Spendors - but then such is the price in some cases, it seems, of domestic bliss).

What's your source, budget and room size?

Hi Clare,

Rooms not massive, about 4x5 meters, tv in the corner + Sony RDR-HXD870. Mostly play music from itunes on the mac + the occasional CD.

Was only planning on spending £200 or so (SONY-HTSS1100 ?) tho would stretch further for decent music playback.
