4k vs 8 k vs 1080P

My 75-inch TV in the other apartment is proudly perched on a stand, and not hanging off a wall. A couple of my friends have same size TVs, again on stands.

Looks nice on the stand.
I had to put mine on the wall, my other half felt uncomfortable when it was on the stand. By placing it on the wall, I was able to extend the viewing distance further.

My first attempt I got the wall positioning wrong, way too high. I had two options:

1. Re-drill the holes in the wall
2. Divorce

Thankfully there was a third option. I got from Amazon Vesa Extension bracket that allowed more flexibility, thus I was able to lower the OLED TV without making new hole in the wall.

Phew!! I didn't mind looking up to the TV, still, it's not all about me!

Out of interest, what made your other half feel uncomfortable with the TV on the stand? Safety, viewing angle, or something else?

I’d always understood the TV should be at eye level when seated and that is certainly the most comfortable viewing position for us. On the wall at the same height would look ridiculous. Higher up would need major changes unless it was at such a height I’d have a sore neck in about 30 seconds.

Yeah, good question. When the TV was resting on the stand it was much further off from the wall. The culprit was amplifier inside the cabinet which was preventing it from aligning it closer to the wall. The speaker cables and mains wiring popping out from behind the cabinet created a wide gap, approximately 15cm off from the wall and another 10cm further from where the TV base was positioned, so it was about 25cm away from the wall.

The minimum viewing distance for TV 65" (what's that in centimetres? ) should measure 280cm from where you're sitting to the TV. When I had it on the stand, the distance was 274cm.

My wife complained, staring at the TV made her eyes tired and giving her a headache. I had all the "Why so big"...."why couldn't you get a smaller TV".....aaaaaagh
Well my brother got 55" TV and I wanted the bragging rights! Yes I know, totally shallow!

Anyway, she suggested I put it on the wall, this would allow sufficient viewing distance.
The wife is a happy bunny!

I hate seeing wires. It’s like a perfect spider nest behind our unit.

For the reasons already mentioned, wall mounting won’t work for us, and that C3 55 is the best we can do in the space we’ve got.

I’m now pondering how I can squeeze a pair of bookshelf L&R speakers in. Santa’s already brought a pair of CA SX-50’s but I’ve no idea yet where they’ll go 🤦🏼‍♂️

You could probably put the CA SX-50’s on wall brackets. Or one speaker resting right of the fire place and the left speaker sitting on the cabinet on the right side of TV?
I can see it's going to be tricky.

my idea of a TV is to watch TV as that is it. age 72 now i have TCL 2023 50 inch and a Sony 48 2016 model . I spent 16 hours or more watching have Sky ( as one does with sports too ) Netflix Amazon and the other one that has Star Trek universe in it . Plenty of scope the wife puts it on 0500 and goes to bed around 2200 . i probably watch it between those hours then i have my tv and pcs (4 of them) in the bedroom. Shame there is only 24 hours in a day. We certainly get out monies worth . But i doubt i get a 8k TV anytime soon ( no TV station transmits them anyway
