Hi guys and gals!

I'm new to this forum stuff so I hope I'm doing it right! Basically, I'm looking for an amplifier to match a pair of Mission 770 freedom speakers. They are very detailed and have a nice "tight" bass, but lack a little warmth matched with my current amp (Cambridge audio A1 mkiii SE). They also seem a little bass light, so I guess I am looking for a second hand amp with a good strong bass....

Any suggestions? many thanks in advance!

Personally if youre after deep bass, i think its possibly your speakers that might be the weak point. Could you bear floorstanders? A 2nd hand pair of mission floorstanders might give you what youre after? Say MIssion 752? My 733i's have incredible bass - like shake your organs bass, but they arent the most refined in the midrange TBH.....although i love 'em to bits.

Hi everyone,

thank you so much for all your replies! Some great suggestions there that I will check out.

My budget is around £200-£300.

by the way, I should stress that I am only looking for a BIT more bass. The setup I have already sounds very good to my ears, but I have a feeling that I could find an amp that is better matched to my speakers

Btw, I have read some interesting things about the Audiolab 8000a, which I can afford 2nd hand. Does anybody have any experience with this amp, perhaps even with mission 770 freedom speakers?

thanks again!

Read up on and give the Yamaha AS-700 some consideration. The brand is very underrated.

It's an amp that WHF considered average with a 3star review. So are cheapish on the 2nd hand market.

It's a 'class' above the more popular AS-500 but will sell for around your budget 2nd hand.

Yamahas also work well with the Missions
from the 7xx series.
