Hello
Can an iPhone physically play 'hi-res' audio? I ask as I downloaded Daft Punk's latest offering in Apple Lossless 24bit 88.2khz format, and was unable to transfer it using iTunes, but was able to transfer direct from NAS to iPhone (5S) via Synology's Audio Station app. I didn't convert or compress the files and the App on the iPhone plays it without any problems. To my ears it sounds pretty decent too ...
Is the app transcoding to play the files, or is it an iTunes software restriction on the iPhone that won't play higher frequency rates, but there is no physical / hardware restriction?
I'm a bit puzzled as I've read that such formats are not supported by the iPhone, but yet it seems that I am able to do so!
