This years 2014 tvs have all been about curved and 4K, does anybody know what next years tvs will be or will it just be more of the same.

I hope that their will be a bit more 4K content of some sort this christmas.

Well it's a bit early to say, we will only get to see next year's models at CES in January. 4K is still in its infancy, so I suspect we'll see more Ultra HD models (perhaps at smaller screen sizes), otherwise I suspect it will be mainly more of the same.

A 4K OLED TV in 55inches might be here, but reports and reviews are saying 4K is a waste of time, like here:

What do you think Andy, is 4K not worth it? Cheers.

Every time I've seen a 4K set in action, I have never been less than impressed. To me, it represents a clear step up from the 1080P I have now (I bought one of the first Pioneer Kuros and love it dearly).

One thing I don't need, however, is for the TV to curve. That just feels like a gimic much like 3D has been.

HDTV test held a test of 55 inch 4K vs 1080p TVs and 48 out of 49 people could spot the difference. Bigger the screen, greater will the difference be.
That's good to know. Cheers.

It says here the test was with 65inch TVs and results were only minor:

Im almost positive that Blu Ray-4k will put unsure minds at rest.

The BDA needs to show the merits of Blu Ray-4K vs. Blu Ray & I expect it to be stunning.

I don't have a 4k set as yet, & even looking at the 4k videos on youtube in 1080p, 4k is in a different league & natively should be out of this world...

Thats of course if there is no last minute U-turn.

I hope so.

As BigBoss states, larger screen sizes will benefit from 4K far more than smaller ones. The average domestic TV nowadays (50"/60") doesn't really warrant it, as you'll not really be seeing a decent jump in performance until you're using something like 5ft screens and larger, as used with home theatre projectors. Viewing distance plays a big role in this, and most people don't sit close enough to a 50" TV to get any real benefit - except for 3 year olds who sit 2ft from the TV, but I don't think they're really that bothered about 4K when watching Peppa Pig.

As for curved, I think that will be a fad. Again, no benefit to the viewer, as it is a feature that was originally designed for users of very large projection screens in order to keep the outer edges in focus.

I saw a demo of Angels and Demons in 4K on a Sony TV and it did look amazing other than the black levels which were good but not as good as a Panasonic plasma or OLED. I think this was on a 55inch or 65inch, I can't remember which one, but this was in the Sony shop.

I was up close though.

What happened to 4K Blu-Rays that were being released? Do they work now or not?

You mean "mastered in 4K" blu rays? Not many titles, but few will comes in the near future, if the existing discs have sold well.
Yep.

The only thing I'm expecting from tvs in 2015, is gel will probable be buying one, then selling me his OLED for a knock down price. OK, the first will almost definitely happen, the 2nd part is just wishful thinking on my behalf. *smile*

Looks like propper 4k bluray will be coming in 2015, unlike the marketing exercise that was "Mastered in 4k".

If I do sell it you have first choice. *smile*
