2.1 speaker package

Looking for a little advice..just bought a panasonic 42PX80 and Denon 1740..now looking to add speakers. I need some advice on amplifier and speakers. My Budget is in the region of £400 could stretch a little further.My research on the net leads me to 2.1 systems with Dvd players! so can someone suggest a decent 2.1 speaker and amplifier that would complement new tv. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go for a simple stereo amplifier and speakers, budgeting about £200 for each. Something like the Marantz PM6002 and a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze B2 speakers would do the trick.

Thanks Andrew for the reply , i was bewildered by the sheer choice and wasn't exactly sure what would be compatible. Do you know of any on-line stores that could supply .?

Andrew , i should have asked , would i need to buy a subwoofer along with these pair of speakers or should they be sufficient on their own?

I'd try them out without first, then audition a subwoofer if you feel you're lacking bass.

Hi , so i have taken the leap and after reading some on-line reviews decided to go with the above set. So being a beginner in this arena, i'm not exactly sure how i set up the stereo amplifier to my Dvd player. I have a monster hdmi cable between my Dvd player and Tv.So can i keep this connection or does it need to come out if im connecting my dvd player to the marantz pm6002. Also do i simply conect the dvd player to the Marantz using an optical or coaxial output? is their any basic principles in setting up the amplifier that i need to know?

again i apologise for my severe lack of knowledge in this , but any help would again be appreciated??
