15m HDMI Cable required!

Hi, I am trying to decide on a decent 15m long HDMI cable to go between my Infocus IN78 and Sony BDP-S550?

I am not using the HDMI for sound, picture only.

Considering the BDP only cost me ~250 pounds, I find it hard to spend the same on a HDMI cable.

IF possible I would like to keep the cost well below 100 pounds.

I have been using a 5m QED component cable, however with moving rooms, I now need to reposition everything, hence the 15m requirement.

As the requirement is for a Cat 1 cable (1080i/720p) you could get away with the pro2 from hdcable. HDcable also sell Cat5 balun systems.

Otherwise, I can recommend MarkGrant's cables HERE or the Octava from tmfsolutions. I use all of the above in my own system but use a Bettercables for the projector. The cheaper ones don't seem to be available anymore. Bluejeanscables are also recommended.

In a similar situation to Scottie in that I need a 15m HDMI cable as well to use with between my Sony STR-DA2400 ES Amp and Sanyo PLV-Z700 projector to watch 720p/1080p movies. I bought a temp one on EBay for just £21 but when connected it seem fine. An excellent picture result.

My questions is, does my system justify me spending over £100 on branded QED or Chord cable? Will I really see the difference for all that extra cash?

Also there I see advertised by companies like Thatcable.com, (www.thatcable.com/acatalog/HDMI_Repeater.html) repeaters for just £13 which boost the signal path between HDMI sources. Surely this must be a better and cheaper method to get excellent picture results?

Finally, I want to connect my single output HDMI amp to both the LCD TV and Projector within the same room. As I do not need to watch both at the same time, what best switcher/ splitter to use in order not to loose out on quality. Again I have been recommended to use the following splitter. Apparently the signal will not be split due to HDCP and will give the most direct link possible and avoids running the signal through any circuitry. Is this true?

Ah.....the HDMI cable debate once again! I didn't notice any difference between my £60 cable & £4.89 cable from that cables.............but it's only 1m. I seriously doubt if 15m will make any difference in quality. If I was in your place, I would check the cheaper cable first. I think it can be returned if you're not happy with quality.

Thanks already bought and using the cheaper HDMI and picture is brilliant. However I just don't want to missing out if the picture can be significantly improved. It would have to be significant to invest a further £100 which is a lot of money for a cable. Also as my source, amp and projector are all 1080p do I need a specialised cable e.g. 1.3v HDMI to cater for this or is that also a gimmick and I need not bother?

Any views toward my comments surrounding the HDMI spilter and repeater.

I have the same problem but i only need a 8m cable

i would spend over £250 on a cable if i could see the difference or was really convinced but the hdmi debate seems to be a roundabout debate

i cant plaster my ceiling until i get the cable and so need good honest advise

buy cheapest hdmi cable you can

if you want deeper colours turn up the contrast

if it sparkles take it back and tell them its rubbish
