Prohibitively expensive speakers but no harm in a little window-shopping...

12 of the world's most expensive loudspeakers : Read more
I have a pair of these AP's but in Bronze, not Gold unfortunately. Still Packed. Sooo heavy. Jason Kennedy (HiFi Choice) said that they did things no other transducer could do and said he succumbed to the sound of bronze . I heard these at a Heathrow show and they were super different truly out there and real sounding. Major investment but I got em!

From David Hart of Hart Audio: " This amp- lification is re-created by the cabinet being entirely silent. It is so solid and inert that almost all of the energy from the drive unit enters the room instead of being used to vibrate, resonate, or excite a wooden cabinet. The result is super-efficient, clean sound without any cabinet noise.”

This doesn't make a lot of sense. The cabinet may be so solid and heavy that it doesn't vibrate but, it will still be absorbing energy from the drivers.
