I've been looking for new tv again! Looking at the Samy UW40B7000/7020 and 8000. Is the extra £300 worth it for the 200hz processing. most review seem to set motion blur to off or low so not sure if ultimately the extra hert-age is worth it. My current TV (a 10 year old Sony CRT) is 100hz and never suffered any problems with motion blur but is it a totally different kettle of fish with CRT units.

Also I seem to remember reading that the panel has a faster response time 2ms as opposed to 4ms. Will this make a difference with gaming lag?

Also does What HI Fi know when the LG LH90 is due in the uk as this is supposed to be a proper backlit led with local dimming?

Cheers

The only true way to know if the extra outlay and if at all there are any benifits of 100htz Vs 200htz is to go and see both TVs in action and judge with your own eyes, personally I find all this extra picture processing has a adverse effect on the motion and prefer it all turned off.

Thanks for the replies.

We'll be watching mainly SD stuff but would want the best out of the set for Blu-Ray movies and PS3 gaming.

We're off window shopping this week so will see if I can get a direct comparison.

Cheers

my new tv is a 600hz model, im impressed with it, not sure if its the hz thats making the pic good like! ha.....

Popped into Currys/comet etc yesterday and saw the 40B8000 and 46B7000 next to each other. Couldn't see any difference. Granted there were no John Woo - fast action movies playing but couldn't see it being worth 300 bar more.

Any how will opt for the 40B7020 when richersounds get stock in!

🙂

Well your 600Hz is not related to the 200Hz on other TVs because its a completely different thing, being sub field drive. Its not related to motion handling, rather it helps to maintain brightness levels. Consequently it will certainly be helping to deliver the picture you are so pleased with. Glad you are satisfied with your new set! 🙂

The Hz thing is the new numbers game, like contrast ratio was. Like most specs it means very little. Let your eyes make the decisions and you'll make the right purchase.

My new TV has the 200Hz Motion Plus option and I was expecting to see football through it much in a clearer way than my brothers 100Hz. Very little difference if any at all and I feel a bit let down to be honest. Especially as I'd paid the extra for the extra 100Hz. Plus, what's the point in having it when I'm being told to switch it OFF for a better PQ!!!!! Doesn't make sense to me. I would certainly agree to try it and see before digging deep.........hope this helps.
