i am trying to spark debate , so please all join in , i have seen many threads lately where we all have to tippy toe around , not wanting to hurt peoples a.v. feelings , well this is my thread , and anyone can say what they want , so there ...

shrink or cable ???????????????????????

Well, you might want to expand a little on the cable one. Which £500 of bellwire did you have your wallet's eye set on?

I'd go for the cable ... if you visit the psychiatrist, he/she will tell you to visit again and again and again .... and will end up costing you more than the £500 for the cable

I get insulted daily, some forums I think employ anti-mains cable police! £500 mains cable ONLY if you have the system for it to do justice!

Its all relative isnt it?

If I had the money id spend it on whatever the heck I liked

Some people spend all their money on gambling, drinking or smoking (usually all 3), even though theyre slowly killing themselves

Others on hardcore drugs ~ no need to add anything to that

If a cable has been 'measurably proven' to aid mains noise cancellation then at least theres a genuine basis to fit one onto a hifi component.

Take the p*ss for all I care, at least im not sat on a cloud thinking im better and more clever than everyone else.............

Well, before I comment I'd certainly need to see qualititaive reviews in WhatPhychiatrist.com to form an opinion as to whether my £500 investment in a psychiatyrist was likely to bring me noticeable improvements to my attitude towards mains cables.

so im sat on a cloud thinking im better and more clever than everyone else ??

because i wouldnt buy a £500 mains cable ??

sounds exactly like me .... but even if I did not, I still don't think I'd spend £500 on a mains cable .... I spent £24 on a Tacima .... did zippo for my HiFi system .... not regreting the purchase as suppose it's ok for surge protection .... and thats as far as I go

Cable, undoubtably.

Modern psychology/psychiatry has not progressed much from the models introduced by Freud and Jung, which was an awfully long time ago. Sure there were and subsequently are continuous streams of "innovations" that purport to sire radical new understandings of the human condition from a psychological perspective, but are they fundamentally far removed from the principle of putting peoples' behavioural tendencies in neat little boxes? The mind is one facet of the human condition and to isolate it from the other facets and disregard the subtle, symbiotic integration is going to impede the extent of what understandings and conclusions may ensue about behavioural patterns. If psychology/psychiatry was as sophisticated and effective as professionals in those fields believe, then a greater frequency of destructive, distorted and fragmented human beings would be "cured" of their respective malaises.

wow .... big words and does not really make sense to me (english is not my mother tongue) ... don't think cables were an issue when Freud was around, otherwise he may have investigated cable fetishes

Mid 80s grafitti from Brunel University Student Union Bar gents':

Psychology is the study of people who don't need to be studied by people who do.

"Cable fetishes,"heh heh heh, splendid phrase, with veiled connotations in the "Story of O" direction. :--P

and the old saying: ... Reality is an illusion caused by the lack of alcohol

simple solution listen to it with your system if you hear a improvement worth £500 buy it if not dont

Not a difficult choice. The cable.

The point many of you are missing is that if it improves the system by 5%, then that could be great or poor value. Poor if you have a system costing £500, great if you have a system costing £10k. And to be honest you need a good system to understand the benefits of a good cable such as this.

According to Guze (1992), "Psychiatry, more than any other branch of medicine, forces its practitioners to wrestle with the nature of evidence, the validity of introspection, problems in communication, and other long-standing philosophical issues." Power cabling, on the other hand, more than any other branch of hi-fi, forces its practitioners to wrestle with the nature of evidence, the validity of introspection, problems in communication, and other long-standing philosophical issues. Unfortunately, the undoubted synergy has been much under-researched, particularly in the field of ECT.ÿ

Youve created this thread to take the p*ss. You certainly dont need ME to spell that out to you, but I will anyways just so we're all absolutely clear

matengawhat:for £500 quid i'd get a electrician in to run me a circuit just for my stereo - i was quoted about £150 for my house

I know it's a depressed market, but hang on to your house until you get a better offer. £150 seems very low.

Yet another mains cable forum thread that ends in personal insults, grow up guys. Frankly it's boring and quite pathetic, I got bored with other forums for this very reason, I come over here and find much the same!
