Does the Nad D3020 have a high pass filter?

I just emailed NAD support complaining that they are advertising an important feature on their website (a feature that contributed to me buying the D3020) that doesn't actually exist. I would love to see some crude bass management actually implemented with a firmware update. Even fixed @70 or...

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

I'm glad to hear that. I'm still a little concerned about bass management. I really love the D3020 except for the (needless) lack of this feature. Is there anything comparable out there (compact, with good sound, lots of inputs, and aptx Bluetooth) that has a high pass? The D7050 does, but is...

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

Just ordered the SB1000 - seemed like it'd do as well as the Rhythmik for my needs for a bit less money and a better return policy. We'll see how it goes!

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

Just got this response from NAD when I asked them about the high pass feature they mention in their whitepaper: "Please be advised that the main output is unfiltered so always full range and sub out is -3dB @100Hz. main output is filtered only when Bass Eq is engaged but this is only required...

    Your next hifi purchase

Having just replaced an old POS 5.1 system with a semi-decent amp and some small bookshelf speakers last week, I think my next purchase will be a decent sealed sub. I'm leaning toward the SVS SB-1000 now, but might be able to stretch the budget to get a Rhythmik L12 if it's appreciably better...

    KEF Q100 + NAD D3020 = happy n00b

I don't have them in - they really kill the bass, which is not overwhelming anyway. It's also surprising (to me at least) that the optical in your MacBook would be better than the DAC in the NAD. What about it sounded better to you?

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

Thanks, yes, I meant setting the crossover on the sub to ~50Hz (I think the NADs low pass is fixed at 80, which is too high if there's no high pass also). If that seems like an acceptable way to go, should I just get the SB-1000, or is there anything comparable to be had for cheaper (even at...

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

Thanks. Do you mean that the D3020 doesn't have a high pass filter, or that you don't think I should bother trying to find a sub that has one, and should just blend the sub's low-pass to around 50Hz (seems low?). Sorry to be obtuse!

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

Thanks for the reply. So yours doesn't change either when you plug something into the sub out? I'm at the latest firmware version (2.8), but I'll give it a shot anyway if I somehow get someone with a Windows PC over here. Even if using the speaker-level ins and outs doesn't save any power...

    Sub for NAD D3020 (SB-1000, L12, B10d, other)?

As I mentioned in another thread, I've just dipped my toes into the world of hifi with a NAD D 3020 and a pair of KEF Q100s. I'm very happy with this set-up, but I think my next move once I have the money will be to add a small sealed sub. However, I have a question about how this will work...

    Speakers For Close wall Use

I just got the KEF Q100s, which are front-ported and supposedly not fussy with placement, because they had to go on an actual bookshelf. They're around your budget if you can find an open-box pair as I did (accessories4less), and although I am new to hifi and my opinion isn't worth much at all...

    KEF Q100 + NAD D3020 = happy n00b

Ah, I didn't realize it was also going to be the source (earlier it sounded like you were trying to decide between optical out and USB from your Mac, in which case USB would be the way to go). If you already have the raspberry pi, try it both ways and see what you like better (and report back...

    KEF Q100 + NAD D3020 = happy n00b

Personally I'd probably connect with USB and take advantage of the built in DAC. I'd also be interested to hear what you think of the setup. It might be because I'm used to a very bass-heavy cheap 5.1 system (ancient Logitech Z-680 with world's boomiest sub, why I finally got rid of it), but...

    KEF Q100 + NAD D3020 = happy n00b

No, that makes total sense! My initial question was phrased poorly - I basically was just wondering if anyone had a similar entry setup. Thanks for the welcome. I've got a lot to learn, but for right now a little ignorance is bliss.

    KEF Q100 + NAD D3020 = happy n00b

Ah. So is there something better I should have grabbed for the money? I don't know what else would sound better at the $400 mark horizontal on my bookshelf (so had to be front ported and point- source). Having saved for a bit on a teacher's salary, it's kind of a bummer that an $800 setup is...
