BT is fine but if you wander off with your phone or receives a message then the music gets bu####ed.
At least with chromecast once you've started something it carries on, and with no battery impact on the controller.
The squeezebox has excellent sound (better than my Chromecast IMHO) and a good operating system. The fact it has a screen makes it very useable but it is also very easy to control from phone or PC.
Synology have a squeezebox server app so they integrate really well.
Hi Leeps
I'm with you on the 80% of features comment.
Really all I want is a good interface (a la Sonos) that offers all the streaming services natively including internet radio and a high quality DAC. My amp or AV receiver can handle everything else.
I don't need inputs, a screen or any...
I have to agree with Robin - the Samsung Galaxy S7 is hard to beat. My son is a massive Apple fan and even he has moved to a S7 in the past week.
He is really pleased with it and cannot believe how much better it is than his iPhone (and a lot cheaper).
Cheers Devi!ish
That is the set up I have most likely settled on. The hardware looks really good. Software I will tinker with as I am also looking to stop using my PC for streaming movies and am hoping ti run thme from my NAS via the Pi.
Christmas fun.....
HI Robbob
Are you using the most up to date version of Musicbee (v3 update 3)? Perhaps try a fresh install of MusicBee?
I've been using it for about 2 years and it works perfectly on my Win10 machine so I'm a bit puzzled as to what the issue could be.
Hi Gray
Sorry I should have been clearer. Is Rune effectively the OS or is it a program residing within on overall OS?
If it is within an OS then I can add any Video streamer I want, but if it is "the OS" then I guess I would need to switch SD cards to switch between functions.
Cheers Gray
The great thing is that once I've got the Pi and DAC then I can try out all the different Audio UI.
Do you know how easy it would be to get the same Pi to run something like Rune, and also act as a video streamer for downloaded content stored on the same NAS as the audio?
