Question Auro 3D is it worth it?

I recently got the AVR and the relevant speakers to 'scratch the itch' of surround sound. It comes preloaded with Auro 3D. I am able to activate it even with 5.1.4, so tried it on. I felt that for some tracks, the 3D effect, especially the height layer processing is better with Auro 3D than...

It is nice to be back! Some changes to the equipment and is reflected in the Signature. Looking forward for stimulating discussions :)

    2014 Active Setup

I have been away from the forum for sometime. Be it the chaotic nature of the forum after the 'upgrade' or me myself getting occupied elsewhere or the whole active setup philosophy of 'nothing much to upgrade' Well, 2015 came (long time back) and towards the middle of the year, I looked at the...

    The active speakers club

This has been my favourite thread since I moved to actives. And I am in the same boat as you with respect to the forum. I am coming here after a long time but the things have not changed much with respect to the 'improved design' which is not at all convenient / easy like the old forum. It looks...

    Welcome to the new whathifi.com!

Agree totally. Fonts are too large and site is too narrow. Viewing the site on 13" Retina Macbook Pro. Websites from others like Apple, Engadget etc all look normal so there are no strage settings on my laptop.

On a different note, I have been using Libratone Zipp as a travel speaker for the past month or so. I am guessing it is an active speaker (as I could not find any detailed specs). This is one great speaker and opened up a new array of listening music. It has got great sound and gives the...

After owning the Beolab 9 for some time, I can recommend them to fill your room size. Likes of Beolab 9s and other similar actives, solve the amp + speaker synergy in one stroke and more or less solve the Subwoofer requirement as well! However, if there is a possible budget stretch, I would...

    B&W PV1D or Velodyne SPL-1000 Ultra Subwoofer?

I had both PV1 as well as PV1D and also when I had the PV1D, I had the 608 for a smaller place. My suggestion based on the experience, though PV1(D) is good, I would opt for a sub with mic based built-in EQ as it is not simple to tune the sub. In a smaller room, the 608 performed very well...

    Fishing around 5k euros

Hi.. I am not sure I understand 'newby to the audiophile world' but if my assumption is right then you are putting together a HiFi system for the first time. If this is the case, I would like you to consider slightly different approach. If you have access to used equipment, may be you can start...

Oppo + B&O = stereo and surround sound?

It is quite simple, IMO Just connect the Front speakers on the dedicated stereo and set them to large and subwoofer off. Connect the other pair to Surround on the 7.1 outputs. Enable the speakers to small or large depending on the bass. Now you can select Front Left/Right in Stereo selection...

    The Devialet thread

That's the dream! To have different speakers to use with different genres / mood and it looks like you are almost there :cheer: After reading the new Devialet profiles matching speakers (SAM), it is really tempting to do the listed speakers (especially the Sonus Faber 2.5). If I had not gone...

If I remember it right, the list prcing of Lab9 is 3900 Euro per piece vs Lab20s at 4500 per piece. To be fair, Lab20 seems to have digital Toslink input along with wireless WISA compliance which seems to justify the price increase (not to mention the inflation)

I wonder too :) Yes, still very happy with my Lab9s! They sound their best after about 10 min warm up time. It looks like the prices / deals are not always openly discussed in HiFi community (which I think should be the other way, so collectively we all can benefit / learn). I paid about 3800...

    The active speakers club

This might not be a succesor in true sense, but B&O launched a new pair of active speakers, Beloab 20. They look very similar to the Beolab 9 but are different if you look close enough. (All Class D amps in 20 vs Class AB amps fot mid & high on 9s and different frequency response range, dual...
