Any thoughts on Denon PMA 1600NE ?

Hi Glyd, To be honest, I am not able to tell any difference between speaker cables, as long as the cable is decent quality and diameter. I use Real Cable tdc 200F - 2 meters for each speaker. Nothing special. Have tried a few others. Think it works just fine. I can find some sound difference...

Any thoughts on Denon PMA 1600NE ?

Yes, now it is just fine as long as you play at least flac file type. The only problem left is that you should turn a bit more the volume to make them sound really well. That is not the case with the old amps from the 70's. Should I buy a more sensitive pair of speakers or am I missing...

Any thoughts on Denon PMA 1600NE ?

Some good news for the Tannoy users or maybe for the pc users:) Yesterday I installed the Denon again and began fiddling with the problem. Your post is the main reason for this:) Think I have managed to get rid of the dry sound. I downloaded the Denon DAC white paper file again and noticed...

Any thoughts on Denon PMA 1600NE ?

Dear Glyd, I also have the Denon PMA-1600ne. Really glad you are happy with your purchase. I have heard the Denon paired with Focal Chorus 714 and it sounded so sweet even at low volumes that i just ordered one half an year ago. Unfortunately, it does not pair well with my Tannoy Mercury...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

It is not about Tannoy, Dali, Q Acoustics or the particular review. It is a matter of principles. We all know that life isn't always fair, but sometimes you just cannot stay indifferent. Most people rely more on such reviews than on listening by themselves. Not to mention that many of them...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

Still wondering what was the exact reason for the extremely malicious and non-objective review by what hifi. Still don't see the name of the author of this poor review. Very interesting why user reviews are still disabled. I still see worse sounding speakers receiving at least 4 stars. By...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

I had spent a few days thinking were am I wrong ... Everything is just fine - room, cables, almost everybody is happy with the Marantz and the Dali ...Finaly I thought that the source might be the problem and decided to try playing something with really high quality, because I usually throw...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

Just saw the recent review of What HiFi about Tannoy Mercury 7.4: https://www.whathifi.com/tannoy/mercury-74/review Think that this review exceeds all measures of malice and lack of shame ... I am not an audiophile but at least I am not deaf. In fact my hearing had been recently checked in...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

I would say that the Dali is more dynamically flat than the Tannoy. A bit dry is exactly the way it sounds to me compared to the Tannoy. I have never noticed timing issues with the Tannoy. In fact, it sounds much more precise than the Dali. Unrefined treble sounds ridiculous to me...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

This review tells me only one thing - there are still companies that refuse to pay journalists, which makes me respect Tannoy and Yamaha even more!

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

Not to mention the review of the Czech magazine Hi Fi Voice: the web site filter doesn't allow me to quote the link, but you can easily find it in internet ... Where the Tannoy is highly recommended. It looks to me much more professional and less commercial, backed up with frequency...

Here is a very professional and objective review, supported by frequency measurements: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=cs&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=bg&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hifi-voice.com%2Ftesty-a-recenze%2Freprosoustavy-podlahove%2F574-tannoy-mercury-7-4&edit-text=

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

Tannoy Mercury 7.4 vs Dali Zensor 7 After having them both for a few months I would say that the Tannoy is definitly the better speaker. The mids of the Dali are annoyingly frizzy with a slight decrease in the level towards the high tones - this leads to lack of intonation in the voices, base...

    Tannoy Mercury 7.4 7

If you check for frequency response and measurements of the Dali Zensor range, you would easily understand why it sounds bright, has an annoying tweeter and base is quite shallow compared to Tannoy and Q-Acoustics.

I was wondering why did you find the Tannoy uninvolving?
