Help with phono preamp for nad C356 BEE please.

Thanks for your help. I think it's probably the best solution for this level of equipment as well. Just looking forward to hearing some of my old and some rare albums again. Thanks again.

Help with phono preamp for nad C356 BEE please.

Thanks for your answer. I'm using an Ortofon 10 stylus but have no idea if that means it's a moving magnet type or not. I've seen the phono module for the NAD for sale on eBay for around £100, but I think it usually costs about £200. I don't see why I couldn't fit the nad module myself. Looks...

Help with phono preamp for nad C356 BEE please.

Hi, I bought a nad C356BEE amp a year ago and would like to connect it up to my old Dual CS 505-4 (Audiophile Concept) turntable. After trying to connect it, I soon realised that the amp had no phono inputs. I tried to connect it to other inputs but the volume was nearly non existent. Now I...

Whats the best option for sound quality here?

Thanks for that Jerry. The Nad I have is the one without the dac. I bought this one as I wasn't sure if the dac specially designed for the nad was as good as other external ones of a similar price. That's another thought for a later date. At the moment though I'm really wanting a machine I can...

Whats the best option for sound quality here?

Hi, I've been thinking of upgrading my hifi system a bit and am wondering if anyone has any experience, with regards to useability and sound quality on the following options I'm thinking of. I'm currently using a Brennan JB7 for my music through a Nad C356BEE amp connected to a pair of B&W 683...

    alternatives to a Brennan JB7

Thanks davedotco for the suggestions. You could just be right with the power amp as I really do want to keep the B&W's. I think they're a really nice speaker. The Brennan only plays files in mp3 which I think is why the sound quality is just OK and not the greatest. The Nad I'm using seems to be...

    alternatives to a Brennan JB7

A bit on the pricey side but it's the 2x32 Watts that I'm not sure of. This will have to drive a pair of B&W 683's which are known for needing a bit of power. I'm using a NAD C356BEE at the moment which is rated 80 watts and I'm just not sure the Olive will be enough. I was really looking for...

    alternatives to a Brennan JB7

Thanks for your reply but it's still the case that I'd have to rip all my CD's to a computer then transfer them to a nas. I really want to avoid using a computer for my music, it's just another long process when all I want to do is put the CD's into a device with storage and play them randomley...

Existing Dac or new Dac, advice please.

Have no fear! I play music most of the day, nearly every day as I got rid of TV about 12 years ago! Plus I've been playing guitar for 25 years or so, so I'm always enjoying the music! Thanks again.

Existing Dac or new Dac, advice please.

OK thanks for your help here. I think I'll save my money then and go with what I have for now. I guess if I want a better sound quality then it's going to be an alternative to my Brennan, I've put another post on the forum asking if anyone has any idea as I can't find a good solution or upgrade...

    alternatives to a Brennan JB7

Sorry about that, don't know what happened there. Anyway here goes: I'm looking for a genuine alternative to a Brennan JB7. I know it's sound is OK (not great) but at least it has a built in amp and hard disk. I've been looking at the NaimUniti 2 All-in-one Player, but this has no built in hard...

Existing Dac or new Dac, advice please.

Just another thought on this. I understand that CD players, computers etc have dac's (of various qualities) already in them. So, as the Brennan is connected to the amp in the same way as these and people have stated that the sound would be improved by the addition of an external dac, then surely...

Existing Dac or new Dac, advice please.

Thanks for the reply. The Brennan only has an aux in & line out. I use the headphone socket from the Brennan via a 3.5mm to rca cable which is connected to the amp. Using the headphone socket on the Brennan turns off it's inbuilt amp, so I can steer the sonnd with the Nad. I load CD's to 320kbps...

Existing Dac or new Dac, advice please.

Hi there. I have a Nad CB356BEE but it's the model without the Dac. I'm using a Brennan JB7 to play music through it which has a Dac already in it. My question is, would it be worth buying and installing the Dac for the CB356BEE and if so does it 'overide' the existing Dac? If the music has...
