I've used the same Linn LK20 speaker cable since about 1985. very conservatively it's had 28 years * 52 weeks * 20 hours = 29120 hours of use. My newest kit is my Rega DAC which has had about 50 hours per week use for 6 months = 1300 hours use.

In preference order music, Radio 4 and World Service, TV news or current affairs and documentaries on catch up, series of old TV comedies, movies. I've not watched live TV for years.

You should have 2 bridging tags supplied with each speaker. You should connect the two +ve reds to one another and the 2 -ve blacks to one another. I'd expect the manual to make that clear. See my 'Am I a mumpty' thread though if you think I know what I'm on about.
