    Servicing Naim Nait Amplifier

What are you talking about? there are very very few devices that actually truly shut down these days. Devices from companies like Naim and Bluesound/sonos often don’t have a traditional “off” switch, but that doesn’t mean they’re poorly designed. Instead, they enter a low-power mode (not...

    iPhone Air anyone?

well if all you want it to do is make calls the Nokia 3310. for 50 quid. if you generally use it for emails, socail media content creation, iphonography, team/zoom meetings, route navigation and the list goes on then tbh an iPhone is very hard to beat. My iPhone is 7 years old and still...

    Servicing Naim Nait Amplifier

The 24/7 thing is probably the reason for Naims suggestion of every 10 years, for some there products at least. But now they have been bought out it will be interesting to see if they actually carry on actually offering the service at all.

How would you define an Audiophile?

I used to have a friend that had a AV system and all he would do is play those THX/DD sound demos that use to be at the front of movies. 10k of gear and he'd get his kicks from fiddling with the gear and EQing. Ill give him were credit is due it did sound amazing but there only so many times you...

New Dac the FiiO K13 R2R: Early Impressions

Personally from my research and listening the k9 is pretty much the sweat spot and pretty much the best thing fiio make, I prefer the akm variant with my ft7s. The THX amps really get the planners moving. The extra 150-170 is worth I think over the k13.

    CD Player

Your guess will be as good as anyone else's here — all we can really do is look at the specs and make a judgement based on that. I will say this though: I’ve yet to come across a DVD player that can’t play CD-Rs. Most of them use computer-style drive mechanisms. They’re a dime a dozen on eBay...

What is the best speakers my needs, dali, kef, rega,or wharfedale

The guy doesn’t know what he wants, so why not nudge him toward perhaps the best system his money can buy? He wants bass? I delivered—compact, punchy, small-form-factor bass. The trade-off: minimal legacy connectivity. He wants to drop 2K on speakers paired with a Wimp Pro? Fine, I handed him...

    Hi Fi Dealers in 2026

Funny enough, I use HiFi Corner and usually speak to the guys in Falkirk. I’ve never actually been into the shop since I live in Suffolk, but they’re generally very helpful and often send things down for me to try out. It’s a similar situation with cycling shops. If I walk into a local bike...

What is the best speakers my needs, dali, kef, rega,or wharfedale

If you’re looking for a wild card, a pair of Sonos Play:5s is worth considering—they score extremely well in Audio Science tests and reach down to about 30 Hz. but will depend on how wedded you are to all you legacy gear, they will take a CD player record player but both. well you could use a...

    ProAc Response Hexa speakers

Sell the stands separately is my best advice. People tend to have their own ways to mount them. Stands are normally surplus to requirement. I've sold all my hifi gear in the past on eBay people will travel if they want them.

    Room correction- mainly analogue setup

These days it’s a bit of a rabbit hole I don’t have much interest in anymore, but there’s definitely a lot to learn, and when it’s done right the results can be great. Just keep in mind that more expensive doesn’t automatically mean better. What really matters is how everything works together...

    Room correction- mainly analogue setup

In my experience with room correction, it’s best thought of as a cherry on top rather than a problem-solver. The improvements tend to be subtle at best. Another thing to consider is that most people have no real way to verify whether the corrections being applied are actually correct. Without...
