Problem with Yamaha AS-1000, why does it change inputs on its own?

If it doesn't ever happen when there are no lights on in the room it could be related to that. I had a TV that switched channels occasionally whenever a CFL light was switched on.

    B&W or Monitor Audio

Those graphs look pretty good. No audible peaks.

XLR vs. RCA interconnects: is there a difference?

You don't need balanced inputs for the tiny wire lengths used in hifi. There's no sound quality differences.

Question Rookie choice - rank these amps!

You could compare them if someone had tested them, but not otherwise. You can only go by the specs.

    Vinyl vs digital

Even budget amps these days have flat responses and inaudible levels of distortion if used under the maximum power. The McIntosh isn't going to sound better.

Laws of physics? You use them with a sub. Personally I think they're overpriced/ overrated, having heard them.

    New amp for B&W 603 s2 anniversary?

I wouldn't change the amp at all. That won't change the bass. Just add a sub, something like the excellent BK XXLS400.

    A Shibata bargain

I find that AT microline stylii sound and track the best. Wasn't impressed by the shibata, although it did beat elliptical.

I had a first listen to the resurrected Musical Fidelity A1 integrated amplifier

The old A1 was class AB, but forward biased to provide around 8 watts in pure class A. It also had a design defect that meant that the volume pot would go noisy because it had DC on it. The B1 was a better effort all round, and more powerful as well. Class A amplifiers are not really any...

Chord Company’s new SignatureX interconnect promises "the best performance in 25 years" - but it'll cost you

As all interconnects sound the same as the freebies in the box these are for the rich mugs.

First a vinyl revival, now a cassette comeback..

No. But you can make good recordings on it. Not quite as good as a digital set up though.

    Question RCA interconnect

More expensive interconnects = higher profits all round. Sound quality is unaffected.
