Are all CD players really equal?

No the cable naysayers know that cables do not affect the signal in an audible way. It's irrelevant whether someone thinks they improve the sound or reduce degradation of the sound - it can be shown scientifically that you aren't going to hear a difference. Doing a null test, for example, shows...

Your assumption here is that people are trying to 'rage bait'. I'm certainly not.

Why evaluating the sound of a single speaker is essential

Interesting thread on ASR started by well respected author Floyd Toole: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/why-evaluating-the-sound-of-a-single-speaker-is-essential.62656/

If I was upgrading my speakers currently I'd go for the South Korean brand Ascilab.

    Best New Albums of 2025

I liked their 2021 album but then forgot about them until this new one came out. I've now listened to their two earlier albums and one sounds like they're trying to be Rage Against the Machine. Even the drummer sounds like Brad Will on that album.

Separate Crystalline Clock Boxes, do the Noughts and Ones add up?

There's no benefit to separate clocks and it could make things measure worse imo. Spending more on a CD player can get you a fancy looking one. It should sound the same.

Are all CD players really equal?

That's fine if it's just for fun. But people post online as if their "findings" are facts.

Are all CD players really equal?

It really wasn't covered. You didn't do proper blind testing.

Are all CD players really equal?

Output voltages of the DACs, impedances of the amp inputs etc. But that's just one factor. If it's not done blind it's not proper either. These things measure so similarly from a frequency response point of view.

Why it is (almost) pointless to recommend speakers

I'm not talking about digital home recording. I'm just talking about digital playback. Why would I be talking about digital home recording? Makes no sense to me.

Are all CD players really equal?

No. It's just that blind testing is very important with things that measure so similarly. I've told you this before, AI ears. You never listen.

Are all CD players really equal?

Since the volumes wont be matched it's invalid. Also it isnt blind, making it invalid.

Are all CD players really equal?

You can still imagine differences purely through expecting there to be differences. You tend to focus on the music slightly differently each time, and if you're not doing instantaneous switching then I'm afraid out memory for sound just isnt that good when it comes to small differences or lack of.
