Netflix rolls out Spatial Audio for 700 movies and TV shows - and you can try it here

Does anybody have any idea how an AVR with DTS X/Atmos will interpret this Spatial Audio signal? I'm wondering if it will work over standard Atmos decoding or if its going to necessitate another round of AVR upgrades to allow it to be fully decoded.

    Floorstanders and Suspended Wooden Floors

Whatever speakers you decide on do not use spikes on a suspended wooden floor with floor standing speakers. Spikes couple your speaker to the floor, the floor effectively becomes part of the speaker and will vibrate along with it, muddying the sound. I wouldn't even use spikes with floor...

What was the first hi-fi separates you bought with your own money?

Marantz CD 5005 Technics SU-C800UM2 Pre and SE-A900S Mk2 Power Amp (open box from RS) B&W 601 S2 Bought around the late 90s . Going from a JVC mini system to this set up was like night and day. It completely blew me away. Of course I blew both the speakers but still have them in the loft in...

Question What do you use for power

I've used a Tacima for years, never noticed any difference in sound quality. However in my old flat I used to get interference on my TV picture, little bits of noise popping up in the picture every few mins. Once I plugged in TV into the Tacima they went away, thought i was going mad and tried...

    New year new hifi ?

Richer Sounds only stock the HiFi Racks Duet model as far as I'm aware. I like wooden stands but prefer the Audiochic ones to the HiFi racks designs which look a bit blocky to my eyes. Not cheap mind you but they will make top plates to perfectly match your speaker.

    Rel T5i x 2 or 1 x Rel T7i

Yes, I use an AV amp with preouts to a 2 channel power amp. for the front two. I'm pretty sure the crossover is set at 60Hz for the fronts. The difference between using the pure direct mode, no processing two channel only, and straight which uses the sub and two channel only is marked, strongly...

    Rel T5i x 2 or 1 x Rel T7i

I'm running a set of B&W 684 as front speakers which go down reasonably low., I've never felt the need for a sub. However, I recently purchased an SVS SB1000 and the difference to the low end and the overall sound has been phenomenal. It could be the fact the amp no longer has to work so hard...

    £1500 - £2000 compelete setup

Hi Stephan, Welcome to the forum. Do want a separate amp and speakers or do you just want a set of speakers with built in amplifiers to save on box count? Also, are you comfortable plugging in your mac to listen or do you need wireless connectivity to the speakers?

Amp selection with phono inlet for my ancient LP12 / Basik / K9?

You don't need a dedicated sub out rca socket. You can connect via rca from a pre-out on the amp or direct from speaker terminal if the sub accepts a high level input. I'd be spending my money on a single box with a good quality phono stage and a new cart. Something like this, which gives you a...

    Furniture??

From memory and a sore back I'm sure its around 40kg, so not easy to move and doesn't flex in anyway. My turntable is on top and I've had no issues.

    Furniture??

I've seen similar done with IKEA Besat units as well. The benefit of a solid unit, imo, is that it hides the wires as well as the equipment which is better suited to a lounge environment. I added this and placed the receiver on my centre speaker which works like a charm and doesn't have the...

    Furniture??

I went for this one. It was a bit more work than expected as it came prebuilt and had a solid back rather than hardboard so had to saw out the back of the centre section rather than simply stanley knife job but still didn't take too long. It is 45cm deep so the wires and connections stick out...

    Furniture??

If it's the depth that's causing the problem simply cut the back out of the tv unit for the component that's too deep. For most it's the AV amp, I cut the back out of my unit as I was having a similar issue. It means the unit sits a couple of inches out from the wall but its not really...

    Beatles or Stones

I lucked out with tickets to it, A good few friends all submitted ticket requests and all got refused. Jimmy Page broke his finger so the concert was postponed. My pal got offered two tickets as someone knocked back the new date. God knows why, but it worked to our advantage. Everyone who...
