Quick update - I have access to a communal FM aerial, so I have bought the naim adapter, hooked it up and had a listen. I'm hard pressed to hear a significant difference between the FM broadcast of radio 2 and the internet stream.

I sometimes listen to hi res internet radio through my naim uniti 2. It will also take a FM radio signal through an antenna - is it worth getting one, will FM give better sound reproduction than internet?

It's not exactly the bass that's an issue. More specifically vocals sound a bit thin and recessed, sometimes a bit spitty or edgy, while everything else seems ok, I think the speakers are in phase ok and the Naim grounding switch is in the right position.

Experimenting with speaker position didn't make any discernible difference; I took a punt with some Van Damme 6mm cables and I'm fairly pleased with the results as the sound has beefed up a bit. Yes, that's how I read it too - that CD players and Cds are designed to fix errors when they are encountered, the upshot being that it is as good a method of music replay as anything else.

If the transport comes into play, I wonder if this means one would be better off copying the cd to a flash drive and playing from there, thus eliminating the transport/laser and any other moving component from the playback chain?
