    fm vs internet radio

The vinyl/digital comparison is why I was curious about FM vs digital streaming, and I was wondering if the same comparisons applied. My take is different from yours inasmuch as I prefer the reproduction from a well-engineered LP to the CD equivalent, but of course each to his own. Anyway, as...

    fm vs internet radio

Quick update - I have access to a communal FM aerial, so I have bought the naim adapter, hooked it up and had a listen. I'm hard pressed to hear a significant difference between the FM broadcast of radio 2 and the internet stream.

    fm vs internet radio

I sometimes listen to hi res internet radio through my naim uniti 2. It will also take a FM radio signal through an antenna - is it worth getting one, will FM give better sound reproduction than internet?

    speaker cable for naim/neat

Andyjm, Rainsoothe, thanks for your thoughts. I'm thinking it's less a cable issue, perhaps I shoud audition some other speakers that give a presentation more like the old mission 752fs. Andy, no amount of repositioning of the neats seems to make a noticeable difference. Also Andy, funny you...

    speaker cable for naim/neat

Just reviving this as it's months down the line and I'm still not happy. I'm thinking it's not a cabling issue per se, it's the characteristics of the UNiti and/or the neat speakers. Bottom line is I don't enjoy listening to t he setup as it sounds too hard and thin. For years I used mission...

    speaker cable for naim/neat

It's not exactly the bass that's an issue. More specifically vocals sound a bit thin and recessed, sometimes a bit spitty or edgy, while everything else seems ok, I think the speakers are in phase ok and the Naim grounding switch is in the right position.

    speaker cable for naim/neat

Experimenting with speaker position didn't make any discernible difference; I took a punt with some Van Damme 6mm cables and I'm fairly pleased with the results as the sound has beefed up a bit. I suspect any residual lightness in the sound may be a characteristic of the Neat speakers - they are...

    speaker cable for naim/neat

Not as such, I will have a fiddle with them.

    speaker cable for naim/neat

I know I might be better off asking this on the naim forum but I'm still waiting for them to approve my registration after three days. I have just acquired a Naim Uniti2 which is playing through Neat SX2 speakers. The speaker cable/wire is qed silver (anniversary I think) sounds good but it...

    recording off line out

I guess it's the idea of being able to tune into a radio station, say an FM broadcast of a live concert, or even DAB come to that, and record it there an then

    recording off line out

Thanks for your and the previous poster's suggestions. I took a look at the specs for the Eridrol, and also the Sony PCM M10 So, the way it looks is I would plug a lead from the amp's line out into the recorders line in then record. I would like to be able to play back by plugging the...

    recording off line out

Showing my age now but there was I time I used to record off an amplifier using tape out to a tape deck. Nowadays tape recording is a thing of the past , but as I am about to get a Naim Uniti which includes radio I've started thinking about recording, and how on earth it is done these days...

    CD resolution

Yes, that's how I read it too - that CD players and Cds are designed to fix errors when they are encountered, the upshot being that it is as good a method of music replay as anything else.

    CD resolution

If the transport comes into play, I wonder if this means one would be better off copying the cd to a flash drive and playing from there, thus eliminating the transport/laser and any other moving component from the playback chain?

    CD resolution

Well, thanks for those replies, it's clarified things. On the subject of CD replay, and going off on a side issue here, can anyone explain the difference in quality between CD players? My understanding is that in simple terms a CD player does two things. It gets the data off the disc, then...
