Yeah, looks like I need a preamp. The old Kenwood must have had one built in. Has anyone got any preamp recommendations? I'm on a bit of a tight budget as I hadn't anticipated I'd need one. I've seen the Rega Fono Mini A2D at £85 and the Project Phono Box MM at £49 but not sure what to buy.

Hi, I have just purchased a Rega RP1 to replace an old cheap Kenwood turntable I had which was connected to my Sony STR-KS1100 sourround sound system. When I connected the RP1 the sound levels are very low. Does this mean I need to get a preamp for the RP1? I thought the Sony system had an...
