    Old amp with new speakers?

I've an opportunity to purchase a set of B&W cm9 for a reasonable price. Price wise it's at the top of my budget and again, I wonder if I am trying too hard because the speakers will no doubt outclass my amp and therefore not be sufficient. I am really liking the kef r500 because they look...

    Old amp with new speakers?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Ideally I don't want to change my amp. Yes it's quite a few years old but has never ever been worked hard so I'm sure it has plenty of life left. It's simple really, my wife wants white speakers and I just want them to be ok hooked up to my old amp. With...

    Old amp with new speakers?

So it's been a while and things have finally been agreed. I was going to stick to my tried and tested Jamo's and was going to wall mount the 2 rears. I picked my spot and started drilling... All of a sudden... Psssshhhhhh!!!!!! Oh fffffffffffuuuuunnnnkkk! It's a massive wall and I managed to...

    Old amp with new speakers?

Thanks for the suggestion but I think the only colour choices will be black or white to match with the rest of the decor of our lounge and furniture. Thank you though.

    Old amp with new speakers?

So much to take in! I guess the main reason I'm not considering the Tannoy range is their looks, but also as a previous poster said, my amp may not be able to give the speakers what they need to function to their best. I respect what you guys are saying that the Tannoys are very very good but my...

    Old amp with new speakers?

So much choice! For the mean time though I will have to rule out the Tannoy range as my wife doesn't think they look modern enough... I did have a look at the Q Acoustics 3050 and they do have a good rating. Does no one rate the Focal and Dali speakers I posted originally? All are similarly...

    Old amp with new speakers?

I know Tannoy are a decent brand because we had a set of old Tannoy's and a denon amp years and years ago. They kicked some serious bass! The DC6T just look a bit old fashioned and for sure my wife hates the look of them. The Dali Zensor 5 comes in white, which my wife wants, and seems to get a...

    Old amp with new speakers?

I'm liking the 6.2s but maybe they are overkill as they will never be used to their full potential. As for my amp, it must be like 8 years old now so I don't know if the performance fades after so long. Again, it have never really been pushed so I guess it should still be ok.

    Old amp with new speakers?

Thank you for the reply, the floorstanders will be used purely as stereo speakers for music and will never be pushed to anywhere near their limit.

    Old amp with new speakers?

The only problem is that we are moving into a town house so having loud music isn't going to please the neighbours... They will be used mainly for music though as I am happy with the Jamo's for home cinema. Color wise, she wants white, yet I feel it just doesn't look right. We have walnut...

    Old amp with new speakers?

So I have a Sony STR DA2400ES that I don't want to get rid of. It's currently paired with a full set of Jamo A102's. My wife has strangely said she want some floorstanders as we are moving house and wants the speakers as an added part of the interior... I've not changed my set up or purchased...
