I think the headphone amp/out on SA8005 is pretty good. I use it to drive my Sennheiser headphones - Momentum and HD600. It sounds pretty good to my ears.

I'm not a big fan of the HD598 for rock and pop music. I think they lack punch and attack. However they are pretty good for acoustic music like jazz and acoustic guitars. I use them mainly for movies. They are exellent for that because of their wide soundstage.

Exactly my experience with Marantz amps. I have owned PM6005 and PM4001. Both sounded rather "dull" straight out of the box. Took about week for them to sound good.

I have both SA8005 and CD6005 and the SA is light years ahead in quality.

Many of the best studios of the world are wired with high quality cabling. For example Abbey Road Studio Two, which was The Beatles second home in the 60s, is wired with van Damme cables. If cables don't matter why don't they use cheaper cables?

Copy controlled CDs (EMI mostly) was a big mistake at the time. I have a few of those and they all pop and click when played thru the DAC in Marantz PM6005. But they play flawlessly on both CD6005 and SA8005.
