How's the bass on the Wharfedales? Looked at the brand before but never been too keen on them. Also my CD player is a SCD-XE380, not the CDP-XE370 which is CD only. Not that I think it's going to make a great difference here

I'd agree with dan1979. I hooked up with QED Silver Anniversary XT bi-wire today (4 cables running from amp), and although relatively cheap, IMO it's by far the most effective upgrade I've made - that includes new speaker/amp combos.

I've had fans in other stuff make irritating noises. It's usually the bearings and the fan needs to be replaced. Go to an Apple Store if there's one near you. Should get the job done in no time if it's not too serious :)

Again, thanks for all the replies. I think I've come to a decision; new amp and new floorstanders, most probably an Azur 640V2 and some Neo 3s. May have to save slightly, since I doubt I could get a reasonable price for my current gear now.
