    Adding ipad2........

Let us know how you get on... the iPad is a great device for listening to music on IMO, especially as you can now do 'AirPlay' from your iTunes library directly to it with ease. I also think the sound quality is stunning on my original iPad, considerably better than my iPod/iPhone/Mac etc. Let's...

    Good speaker match?

How's the bass on the Wharfedales? Looked at the brand before but never been too keen on them. Also my CD player is a SCD-XE380, not the CDP-XE370 which is CD only. Not that I think it's going to make a great difference here

Is apple the way to go

I don't actually have one, so I'm not speaking from experience. The content the ATV can deliver, as well as (arguably) its general usability is streets ahead of the competition, so in that respect it its a no brainer to choose one. That being said I don't think this is a concern to the OP so one...

Is apple the way to go

Apple products are very good. Nowadays it's as fashionable to bash Apple as it is to be an ultra-fan, but the products are fundamentally great (IMO). The new Apple TV is a very nice little package at a fair price, look into aTV Flash by Firecore, which will give you a lot of extra functionality...

    Good speaker match?

Hi all, I'm currently using an old pair of Sony SS176Es with my Cambridge 640A (V1), Sony, CDP-XE370 SACD player, Pro-Ject Genie 3 + Rega Fono Mini. It all holds up pretty well but I think the speakers are getting a bit long in the tooth now and showing their age. Probably the weak point in the...

Single or Biwire - Advice Please.

I'd agree with dan1979. I hooked up with QED Silver Anniversary XT bi-wire today (4 cables running from amp), and although relatively cheap, IMO it's by far the most effective upgrade I've made - that includes new speaker/amp combos.

Sony TA-FE370 + Qed Silver Ann XT + Mordaunt 904i - Suggest Upgrade Please

Back in the day, Sony was right up there with the best of them: http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/sacd/sacdproductsbig.jpg Yes please. BTW, you'd be very happy with a 640A v1. I certainly am :D

    eBay winnings....

Thanks for the tip. Whatever the case, they sound pretty phenomenal for £21. Would have probably happily paid 4 times that.

    eBay winnings....

Recently won an old but decent pair of Sony ss-176e floorstanders to match with my Cambridge 640A, of which I've heard many good things, for 21 quid. Sounds like a good deal if you ask me, although I'm yet to receive them Some of these speakers are badged as 'Brooklands edition', anyone got any...

MacBook Air, complete with free bumble bee

I've had fans in other stuff make irritating noises. It's usually the bearings and the fan needs to be replaced. Go to an Apple Store if there's one near you. Should get the job done in no time if it's not too serious :)

    Floorstanders for ~£150-£200?

Again, thanks for all the replies. I think I've come to a decision; new amp and new floorstanders, most probably an Azur 640V2 and some Neo 3s. May have to save slightly, since I doubt I could get a reasonable price for my current gear now.

    Floorstanders for ~£150-£200?

Q 1050is seem like a steal for what you can get them for; about £225. Still would like to give the Neo 3s a listen Richer Sounds are doing the Cambridge Azur 640A V2 for £199. Almost too tempting, heard nothing but hefty praise for them. To think, I came looking for some cheap floorstanders...

    Floorstanders for ~£150-£200?

dim_span is right, the bass isn't overwhelming on the 760i. Showing it a rear wall helps a lot, but its very muddy at times, and spoils the really rather nice mid and treble they can provide. matthewpiano:Keep your speakers a little longer and pay attention to the amp first. You are not...

    Floorstanders for ~£150-£200?

Thanks for all these replies, they've certainly given me food for thought. I'm thinking I might stretch my budget a good set of speakers, and then pick up a new amp asap after that. Hifi, it seems to me, always end up being far more expensive than you anticipate!

    Floorstanders for ~£150-£200?

Cheers newbie, I actually hadn't considered them. How do the F4s sound? I've heard great things about the F1s
