Looking for a pair of floor standers that will work well with a valve amp maybe a Unison Research Simply Italy or something from icon audio. I am looking to spend 1k tops. What would you suggest? Do some speakers lend themselves better to a valve source?

OK thanks for the response, I think I'm siding with proper stands and just put something else on the bear. I'll be forever regretting it.

I have one of these Animal side tables http://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/animal-side-table and am contemplating buying another and using the pair as speaker stands. Will this be bad for overall sound quality? Is there anything I can do to improve sound e.g. add spikes? Or would I be better off...
