    Audiolab 8200a with Mission e34

Hi All, I've found this to be an amazing combination, and I just wonder if anybody else has put these brands/items, together with success. I got these speakers for £150 and they are long since discontinued. Having heard them, I am thinking that they are treasure. They seem to have exactly what...

    Speakers with personality

Thanks for your replies. I'm thinking in the region of £500-1000. I sometimes wonder about finding an old pair of Tannoys with the 10 or 12 inch dual-concentrics, for a bit more spend. Any thoughts on how these stack up against modern speakers?

Hi All, I'm running an Audiolab 8200A with MA Silver 1. Is there a speaker that could rock out more with this amp? I think bigger might be the way to go, but I'm not sure. I'd like more warmth and seduction in the sound. What speakers would you use to bring out the best from Audiolab?

    Sony cdp from 1985, thoughts?

Thanks so much for looking into that. I'm out of my depth here, but I can learn. I'm becoming more sceptical of the idea that newer=better.

    Sony cdp from 1985, thoughts?

Thanks for all your replies, very kind of you! I've for everything yet to learn about tech-specs of cd players, but I find it interesting. This Sony has a nice synergy with my audiolab 8200a ano MA Silver 1 speakers. The sound seems to be nicely sculpted across the whole spectrum. Lots of...

    Sony cdp from 1985, thoughts?

I was actually very surprised how good it is. It seems more detailed and natural than my cd5004- which I've always felt has a nasty leaden-thump to rhythms. The Sony seems more laid back and more attacking all at once. Its not at all gritty in the treble, or vague with bass. That is, in...

    Sony cdp from 1985, thoughts?

It's certainly quite heavy for its compact size, and the edges of the casing are curved. I wonder if many of the components-bar the DAC- were built with more physicality, with higher grade anologue parts?

    Btw, it's a CDP-30.

Hello all, I picked up one of these for £20 from a charity shop, as my curiosity got the better of me. I find its sound to have more charm than my Marantz cd5004. It's output seems less forced volume wise, and easier to listen to. Anyone out there have any knowledge of these machines?

What are peoples thoughts of the Audiolab 8200a?

Just interested in peoples experience of this amp? I'm still digesting the merits and character of this amp. Having bought one, I'm in love with it. I find that the midrange is detailed, but with a slight recess, which lends it a slightly 'scooped' tone. The extremes of treble seem very forward...

Which cd player for crisp, defined cymbals?

Maybe I'm too trusting of my MA Silver 1s, to present to me, whatever is underachieving further up the chain of components. On certainly more aware of a processed sound, than when I had a C320 with Mission 701 speakers!
