    Huge standing wave, help needed

Actually I've just tried applying DSP, by manually lowering the hyped frequencies using my ears and a variable graphic equalizer. I only lowered the frequnecies that sounded too loud (56, 124, 197, 271, 650 hertz) so that it overall sounds smooth from my listening position. This produced...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

BigH, don't get offended because I've also read that foil helps with dampening. I don't pretend that I know really, but this is something that seems logical to me, so I just expressed 'what I think' . Of course, I will highly appreciate if you can give me some arguments or references that will...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

Well harder is better. 2 inch of 120 kg density is roughly equivalent to 4 inches of 60 kg density absorbents. For rockwool this will mean around 40% abroption at 125 hz and 100% absorption at higher frequencies. As of foil, contrary to what you say, I think it will offer further dumpening...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

Well if they are really dusty as you say, I can order foiled boards as well. Here is how they look like, btw it's called ThermalRock Slab. they have 120 kg foiled 0.6Mx1.2Mx2inch panels for $20 /piece.

    Huge standing wave, help needed

I've just ordered a piece of acoustic foam 18x18x2 inch. That I will cut in two and use as isolation pads for the monitors. Let's see if that will change anything but I don't even hope it will make any real difference. Well there are two types of rock wool. boards and blankets. I suposse...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

If I were too choose between the panels and 2 bass traps in the corners, what would be more impactful, considering my specific room? There is one problem though about corner traps is that the door is very close to the wall - only 5 inches, so I'm not sure if I can fit it there. Also the trap in...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

Well, my room is already fugly like SH** I will probably move out in the future. The only cool thing about it is my computer and the speakers of course. :)

    Huge standing wave, help needed

Well rockwool, it's like fiberglass but it shouldn't get you itchy... in theory The width is indeed twice the ceiling btw. I just found out that the ceiling is pywood, and there is some empty chamber, I guess it's for electric wiring of light bulbs. Multiplying the density to the volume it...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

Oh by the way. I think I undestand now why this is happening. The room width also happens to be 2x times the room's height, so it further multiplies this frequency. Unfortunately, I cannot treat the sides of the room, because there is a door and the kitchen... uhm. The door is made of porous...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

I see.. well the problem is it mainly concentrates near the speakers at the desk, so when I listen music and move a bit around the room - it's not there. If I make 15 dB correction - it's a really ugly thing to do. It will unbalance sound if I move 1 meter away. Unless I was tied up that...

    Huge standing wave, help needed

I get a huge standing wave of at least 15 dB @ 124 Hz in my listening position. I use two rear ported monitors 8 inches from the wall on a desk. (can't get any further because I have too little space). This standing wave is ruining my sound especially if I want to play rock music... I did...

What speakers? Elac B6, Dali Zensor 3, Monitor Audio MR2...

According to specs my amp has 85 W / channel of dynamic power and 65 W / channel for all channels. It's actually 9 channels because it has "Zone 2". Probably ******** as well, but judging by the size of transformer it should be stronk. :)

What speakers? Elac B6, Dali Zensor 3, Monitor Audio MR2...

Sensitivity is different. the speaker has 87 dB sensitivity. but also 96 dB peak SPL. Regarding the amp, well yeah it's a bit wierd but I didn't have many 2 channel amps options. Because most of them are either expensive or too low on wattage. Maybe I'll add sub in the future, but I cannot...

What speakers? Elac B6, Dali Zensor 3, Monitor Audio MR2...

Didn't know those speakers existed! It seems they have ideal port for near wall placement. And I can get them for a reasonable price. But I'm unsure of one thing. Their specs it says peak SPL is only 96 dB. Does that mean I can't play them loud? I think a speakers of this size should be...
