    Sennheiser HD650 or Alessandro MS2

The RS2i almost certainly won't sound significantly different from the SR325i. At one point I owned a 325i and an older RS2 (the version with the 'button') and I then sold the RS2 and bought an RS1i. I could hardly tell the difference between any of them, unless I really analysed the sound. They...

looking for phones £60 or less

The original Creative Aurvana Live! is better (and/or) better value than anything on that list. It was originally sold as the Denon D1001 (The D1100 replaced it in Denon's line up but is far inferior) Can be had for around £50 & are also very comfortable Here's a good review...

    Sennheiser HD650 or Alessandro MS2

I'd probably go for the HD650. The MS2 sounds virtually indistinguishable from the SR325i. there are differences, but they're incredibly subtle; I'd be shocked if anyone were able to tell them apart when blindfolded. Note: this goes for any Grado up to the RS1i - I've listended to most of them...

Denon amp - sound temporarily from right channel only

Hi, I recently pulled an old amplifier out of storage and it's got an issue I'm hoping someone could help with. The amp is a Denon PMA-250III (bought 1994) and hasn't been used for around 10 years. I plugged it in a couple of days ago and hooked it up to my speakers / CD payer, but when I...

    amp/dac for AKG K612 ?

Hi! I used to own the AKG K601, which is the same headphone. I used it with a Fiio E10 and it sounded great! The E17 will be fine too. The E7 might by slightly underpowered, though.

Compact passive speakers for PC use

Hi, I'm planning to replace my ageing 2.1 PC speakers and one option is to reuse an old integrated amp I have lying around and get some small passive speakers, suitable for sitting on my desktop, either side of my monitor. They will be for nearfield use only, and I'm not a basshead, so the...

    new headphones for home use

No problem, happy to help! Aside from the cosmetic differences, the DT880 Pro has slightly more clamping force, different headband padding and a coiled cabled (the Premium has a straight cable.) The Premuim is available in 32, 250 & 600 Ohm versions, whereas the Pro is only easily available...

    new headphones for home use

I own some DT880s (250 ohm Edition) as well as Sennheiser HD600s and Grado 225i, so can offer some advice here. (Note: the HD600 is very similar to the HD650, with a slightly more neutral and airy sound. The Grado 225i sounds virtually the same as the 325i to me - in fact I've tried most of the...

Will a Denon RCD-M39DAB drive my Mission 760i SE speakers?

Thanks - that is a very similar thread!

    new headphones for home use

Grado SR80i are a good choice for that type of music, but bear in mind they have a bright & aggressive sound and will seem quite bass-light compared with the K450s. (The bass is actually very tight and musical, but the lack of 'boom' can take some getting used to.) The Grado 125i is more of the...

Will a Denon RCD-M39DAB drive my Mission 760i SE speakers?

Thanks a lot to both of you. Just the kind of insight I was after! The 760i SEs are working perfectly, but the cabinet on one of them has a ding and a few scratches (they also look pretty dated & functional, compared with something like the BX2 ) If they still compete with today's gear in the...

Will a Denon RCD-M39DAB drive my Mission 760i SE speakers?

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it! Can anyone comment on how the 760i SEs compare with bookshelf speakers currently available? I like the Missions, but they have some cosmetic damage and I'm toying with the idea of replacing them. My price range would be £100 - £250 and I like the...

Will a Denon RCD-M39DAB drive my Mission 760i SE speakers?

I'm moving my home office into a smaller room and need to downsize my system. Currently I've got separates driving Mission 760i SE speakers. I'm thinking of getting a Denon RCD-M39DAB all-in-one and I'm wondering if it'll drive my Missions OK? I've seen the Denon sold packaged with speakers...
